Stuart Rumph and his family have been in Charleston for 16 generations. He grew up exploring Seabrook’s beaches and woods and as an avid fisherman and boater, Stuart knows every curve of every creek in and around Seabrook. Patsy Zanetti, a Charleston native, was fortunate to start with Seabrook Island Realty in 1980. Patsy was fortunate enough to work with the top Seabrook Island agent during the ’90s and quickly became the top agent on Seabrook herself. Chip Olsen, a native New Yorker, spent 20 years in the Real Estate business including managing Commercial Real Estate offices in, Atlanta, Baltimore, Charlotte, and Charleston before visiting Seabrook Island almost 7 years ago. We were looking for a future retirement home and after several trips to Charleston, not finding anything that felt right, a friend suggested Seabrook Island. After one drive around the Island, I looked at my wife and said “this is it.” Chip is an avid golfer, tennis player and loves to fly fish for redfish in and around Seabrook Island. Chip is a graduate of the United States Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, NY.

My brother, sister and I decided to get a market evaluation just to see what our vacation home we owned together would be valued at. Over the years my wife and I had been to several open houses on Seabrook and had met Stuart and the team from Seabrook Realty. Stuart, Patsy and Chip all came and did a thorough assessment asking the right questions. More importantly they wanted to understand the family history of our father’s legacy of owning properties on the island for over 40 years. A lot of emotion and memories and they all understood that.

Stuart was quick to get back to me with an assessment of what he thought the house could sell for. We decided to list the house and also wanted Stuart to find us another property to buy. Our current property was in an LLC which we had on the rental program for the last three years. Stuart suggested we do an 1031 exchange to minimize the capital gains tax. He introduced us to an attorney who had expertise in 1031 exchanges. We wanted someone that was well connected in the market and Stuart definitely delivered on that account.

Stuart was able to find us a property to buy in a market where multi- family properties were selling before they were officially listed. It was a complicated transaction because of the strict guidelines that come with 1031 exchanges. We were also purchasing a property that was under construction.

Stuart navigated us through that period encouraging us to stay the course and be patient and the right buyer would come along. Stuart was spot on and the right buyer came and we sold above asking price. That allowed us to move forward with the new purchase.

Overall I can’t say enough about what a huge asset Stuart and his team was to work with. We felt so well taken care of. We all enjoyed the strong relationship we built with Stuart. Strong relationships are an important part of what makes him so successful at what he does.
